We’re halfway through 2013 and I’m sure you’re facing yet more change and challenge in your retail sector. The North American economy is growing and that should fuel adoption of new technology and make the retail marketplace much more competitive.
In Canada, our national retail space is expected to grow by 5.4 million sq ft this year and new space will increase above the 10-year avg. of 5.2 million square feet annually according to CBRE. Easier rules for foreign companies to move in to this market will create further challenges. Cross border shopping has been a thorn in the side of Canadian retailers for some time and the pressures of online shopping and local mobile promotion are having some of you pull your hair out. How to manage this tide of change?
