Gift Cards and Cash may be the most appreciated gifts for most Xmas shoppers but how much fun is that? Cash gifts miss the point of a Xmas gift as being the perfect opportunity to show your loved ones you have taken the time to understand them and appreciate them. A gift card is just a guilt pay off.
The popular gifts are fine, but you’ll need to add something unique to get that “You’re Special” point across. While a new LED big screen TV or iPad is bound to make them feel special, small, unique gifts are just as important. So while you’re shopping for the expensive stuff, and spending hours reading the spec sheets, don’t forget those special custom gifts, particularly for women.
On a brick and mortar retail sales note, most major retailers (and even boutiques) are increasingly selling the same products. This homogenization of the gift market causes shoppers anguish in their quest for interesting, one of a kind gifts, however its’ a grand opportunity for entrepreneurs and product developers. Think unique products with unique packaging.
It’s funny the way POP packaging can “undull” a product and make you feel like you’re buying something unique. Just add a picture of Santa or some green Xmas tree graphics and you’ve got a whole new shopping experience. For us in the packaging industry, it’s a good thing. At some point though, we need unique products for unique gift idea to dazzle consumers.

This Xmas gift top 10 list is no small matter — it makes up a good portion of Xmas sales revenue in Canadian retail stores.
